Welcome/Bienvenue!

Within the entity of Honour Thy Lovers, John James will be the spatial anchor for your time in ceremony. Utilizing tools such ritual purification, breathwork, sense, divination, channeling spirit beings, and ecstatic dance, they began formal talismanic and ceremonial practice on Treaty 6 Territory of the Cree Nation, Amiskwaciy Waskahikan (Edmonton, Alberta), and are currently based in Paris, France where they have been leading open ceremony since 2016.

Each facet of self in this practice, seeks to rethink the roles and conditioning of spirituality in our lives. Asking what sustaining the ebb and flow of contrasts and evolution resulting from cycles of deconstruction/reconstruction of home and identity (known as the process of becoming) can look like. Defined (for this being) as the tapestry of relationships and narratives woven by ancestral imprint, lived experience and temporal identity.

HTL. is deeply committed to ongoing educational evolution, alliance and reciprocity alongside BIPOC wisdom-keepers and spirit-led partnerships as elder council member of CAAENOCAM (Confederation of Ancestral Spiritual Authorities of the First Nations of Colombia, Aby Ayala and the World) as well as working with locally sourced, artisan-made and ethically produced materials and spiritual tools as much as possible.

When given consent or permission from an other, HTL. (as a practice) transforms as mirror or bridge to support multi-sensory deep dives into layers of being and how to interpret them through lived experience, identity, translations of love, honouring and witnessing.

Like many constructions of education born out of the reaches of transference, adoption, immigration, diaspora and colonization the ceremonial constellation of HTL. has roots in the stardust of many territories and cultures. The predominant pillars of life study being: theosophy, divination, memory and lineage, and critical feeling (or translation of feeling and intuition) as a form of medicine.

At this moment, HTL. is active guardian of spiritual elders and families residing in the Department of Cauca, Colombia, Acre (Brazil), throughout the territories of Canada, Greece and Warsaw, Poland. As well as those who have requested to hold ongoing standing and devotion at the altar. John has been adopted into indigenous ceremonial lineage by elders of two lineages - Paje Bire Huni Kuin Kaxinawa of the Kaxinawa based in Igarape do Caucho Acre, Brazil and Mayor Luis Yunda of the Nasa Community of the Department of Cauca, Colombia.

“Find the thing in you that is different, that’s as sharp as a diamond and jagged as a razor. Hone that, because that’s the thing with which you’ll cut the world.”
